Welcome back to the docks, everyone, and a special welcome to our new members!
A reminder about keeping safe on the docks:
children should be encouraged to walk on the docks, and consider having them wear a life jacket
no chairs should be put on the docks as it narrows the paths and increases the danger of falling
bicycles can be walked on the docks, but shouldn't be riddenStore bicycles on your boat, not on the pier.
If you see any issues or broken dock pieces, please report them to the office so they can be fixed promptly.
For the consideration of others:
Tie your halyards away from the mast to a shroud or something on the deck, as this prevents the loud slapping noise against the mast when there is wind
When leaving your boat, it's always a good idea to imagine what conditions would be like in a 30 kt wind—from any direction!
Ensure the gate is closed behind you, except to hold it open if another member is right behind you ;)
Here's to a beautiful and safe boating season!
Please save the following dates on your calendar.
Shrink-wrap bin, April 2 - - April 30
Water available outside and on docks, March 28
Launch - Saturday, April 26
The fence in the parking lot will be removed on May 7Dry Sailors moving in on May 6
Also, please save Sunday, April 27 as a possible rain date in case conditions make it unsafe for the crane to lift the boats. We will follow up with more details as the launch date approaches. The board and bridge are excited about the upcoming season, and we are working together to achieve a safe and successful launch.

This note is to alert you to RHYC shrink-wrap re-cycling guidelines for this spring. This change aligns our club with Boating Ontario – Clean Marine best practices and has been arranged by our Environment Committee working with RHYC operations staff to put in place policies that are already followed by most of the other yacht clubs in the province.
A bin will be delivered to the parking lot storage area on Friday, April 1, and is intended to be used only for shrink-wrap disposal. If you have no re-use plans for your cover, please schedule its removal and disposal in the bin during the 2-week interval that follows.
To make this process work, we’re asked to separate all ropes, vents, vent wires and other foreign objects from the shrink-wrap. Those items should be placed in the club garbage receptacles. The shrink-wrap can then be bundled and placed in the designated bin. No other items should be disposed of in this bin.
If you have any questions, please check with Pascal.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Thank you for doing your part to improve our environment.
